How to handle eating at a Buffet

We went to an all you can eat Buffet this past Sunday.

I think I have tackled the best way to eat at these without being a glutton and not feeling like one either!

1) DO NOT EAT BREAKFAST if it's a Brunch buffet. Fill up on water or coffee in the morning.

2) Eat only foods you can not have or make at home.

3) Eat as healthy as you can...

4) If you don't like it or it doesn't taste so good stop eating it!

Here is a sample of my plates Sunday:

Steamed crab legs (no butter)
Jumbo shrimp with cocktail sauce
Smoked salmon
Mussels in a tomato sauce
Sushi (both roll and sashimi)
Yogurt parfait with fruit and granola
Grits prepared with some vegetables in them (yum!)
Pineapple and strawberries, lightly dipped in the chocolate fountain
Last but not least... DESSERT
1/2 piece of carrot cake
Bread Pudding
Bite of not so good Tiramisu

Happy Eating!

Outcome of Chili's dinner

I did eat at Chili's and found something good.

Create a Combo!

Margarita Chicken - one full chicken breast
Spicy garlic and lime shrimp - not that spicy
steamed broccoli
black beans pico de gallo - instead of the loaded mashed potatoes

Very tasty! Still quite a few calories but overall 15 points on WW and about 600 calories.

Not the best thing though to be eating 1/2 your calories in one meal though.

Chili's Guiltless Grill

So how can a Black bean burger be bad for you?

I don't know... Chili's Guiltless Grill black bean burger has 650 calories and 12g of fat! Which equals 24 points on the Weight Watchers program.

The grilled salmon dinner has less calories but 14g of fat

The chicken dishes are more reasonable with 8 and 9 grams of fat.

What can they possibly do to this food to make it so high in fat and calories?

This is why I just don't eat out much... it's more work to figure out what to eat than it is to just either go to the store and get pre-prepared fresh food from the meat counter or just make it myself.

Chocolate!

Recently I have gone on a chocolate binge.

My current fave is Kit Kat bars, they are addicting, they taste light.

The other fooler are Little Debbie Nutty Bars -- WOW! Although 2 are a serving which 2 come in a package - unlike pop tarts where 1 is a serving but you get 2 in a package. They taste light and crispy but are 5 points for 2 bars, not too bad.

I also had a binge on the new Butterfinger Crisp bars. I hate butter finger but these are tasty!
6 points, about 240 calories!

The lesson I learned was don't go to the Dollar Store when you are hungry, they have cheap candy bars!
